Around the port and further on eastward along the sandy beach which lines the bay, some smaller hotels and apartment facilities row up, and down by the beach road there are several restaurants and tavernas, kafenions, small supermarkets and some other shops.
The town of Rethymnon on the north coast is 42 kms away.
